The Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018 will be the first time Beach Volleyball has been included as a sport for the Games; and Coolangatta has been announced as the host venue!
There will be a temporary stadium erected in Queen Elizabeth Park, with spectators set to enjoy not only a great game but a stunning view of the Gold Coast skyline to go with it.
This is exciting news for the Southern Gold Coast, with Connecting Southern Gold Coast CEO, Peter Doggett, saying “Coolangatta is the ideal venue for the Beach Volleyball, with a well-protected beach, plenty of sand, not to mention a strong accommodation sector supported by a growing retail and lifestyle precinct,” and “We’re thrilled with the announcement and look forward to working with organisers in delivering what is sure to be one of the signature events of the Gold Coast Games.”
